Our Chiropractor Treats Neck Pain
Since neck pain can arise from several different sources, our chiropractor, Dr. Colin Kurtz, and colleague, Dr. Karel Lloyd, always make a careful examination of each patient when they arrive for their very first appointment. Neck pain is sometimes only one of the problems. For example, a pinched nerve in the neck can also cause shooting sensations that may result in back pain. Sometimes back pain patients also have occasional neck pain, and we make sure to examine the whole neck and back for the origins of the problem.
Pinched nerves are a common problem that will result in neck pain. When the delicate nerve system that runs from the base of your skull all the way down your back is disrupted in any way, severe pain can result. A nerve can become trapped between neck vertebrae, which will often cause severe shooting pains.
A slipped disc in the neck area is another reason for neck pain. This can cause severe pain but it can often be remedied in non-surgical ways. We use chiropractic care, physiotherapy, and massage therapy to help patients recover from this type of injury in a natural and non-invasive way.
Auto accident and personal injury patients will often have neck pain as a result of the impact they suffered during the accident. These neck injuries are soft tissue injury, meaning that they affect the muscles, discs, and nerves in the neck area - the soft tissues of the body. Whiplash is a soft tissue injury, one which can cause severe pain equal to that of broken bones, so these types of injuries should never be underestimated.
